Binance Recruits Former Microsoft Exec to Expand Web3 Offerings

Major exchange Binance has announced the recruitment of two tech veterans, Rohit Wad and Mayur Kamat. According to Binance’s release, the exchange expects the new additions to help expand its ongoing Web3 developments.

On April 1, Rohit Wad, a former corporate VP at Microsoft, assumed the position of Binance’s new Chief Technology Officer. Mayur Kamat, previously the VP of product at Agoda, is now the head of product at the cryptocurrency exchange. Binance seems intent on leading the Web3-based future, and its recruitment of high-ranking executives who command combined expertise of more than 50 years in the technological field, is only proof of this.

Goals and Experience

Rohit, who left his Web2 career, intends to deliver the benefits of Web3 and blockchain to the masses in “the same way Netflix brought movies into people’s homes”. Rohit will help the exchange to develop scalable, compliant, and quick Web3 services and solutions for users. Finally, the former Microsoft VP claimed he would help maintain Binance’s reputation as the “most secure, fastest, and liquid exchange in the world.”

Mayur Kamat, on the other hand, will manage the entire product strategy, roadmap, and development at Binance. According to the official release, Kamat will oversee his team on the development of products capable of fast-tracking crypto adoption. All this while lowering the entrance barrier to Web3 technology.

In summary, the two veteran execs hope to lead Binance’s inspired charge into a Web3 future. The former VP Rohit joins the Binance exchange with over three decades of engineering and development experience. In the past, Rohit contributed to early Microsoft programs like SharePoint and Excel. Most of Rohit’s contributions are still very much active today.

Following that, the tech expert went on to develop Facebook’s Seattle office from 100 engineers to over 1,000 in four years. Binance plans to bank on Rohit’s versatility and experience in working for Google.

Meanwhile, Kamat possesses a glittering career as well. Especially considering his contributions to the establishment of mobile Gmails, Google Voice, and Windows DRM.

Binance Web3 Investments

The recent recruitment is not the only sign of Binance’s intent toward Web3. Lately, the leading crypto exchange has made strategic investments in Web3 companies. Binance Labs recently invested in Automata Network, Manta Network, and Coin98 during the first quarter of this year.
