English Football Club Enters Partnership with Crypto Betting Platform

English football club Southampton has entered an agreement with cryptocurrency betting firm Sportsbet.io. The partnership will expose Southampton fans to cryptocurrency and create an engaging experience during matchdays.

Fans Based Partnership

Sportsbet.io intends to take advantage of the partnership by leveraging the Premier League club’s popularity. The betting firm wants to redefine fans’ experience using virtual reality technology and blockchain technology.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected Southampton fans since they cannot attend home games due to the fear of contracting the virus. Sporstbet.io intends to recreate a matchday scenario for fans by using virtual reality technology. Fans will be able to experience it by using virtual reality tools right from their homes.

Also, fans will utilize cryptocurrencies to get additional perks such as front-row seats in the training ground or a stadium tour with club legends. Sportsbet.io has built the virtual experience and partnered with Pico Interactive, specializing in providing virtual reality solutions globally.

Sportbet.io first launched the virtual reality product in December 2020 during the Southampton home tie with Manchester City. It was a successful launch and featured a limited virtual fans’ experience alongside club legends Matthew Le Tisser and Franny Benail.

This official partnership means that Sportbet.io can expand the solution using a variety of initiatives for fans. Southampton Chief Commercial Officer David Thomas stated his excitement in the association between the club and the bookmaker. “As a club, our digital approach has always looked to redefine the content status-quo, and we were excited at the shared values between ourselves and the Sportsbet.io team,” he added.

Coingaming Group founder Tim Heath echoed that the company believes that cryptocurrency has a big future in football. ”We think cryptocurrency has a big future in football, and we’re right behind it”. He Said.

Football and Cryptocurrencies

Several football clubs have begun to explore partnerships with different cryptocurrency platforms. The popularity of cryptocurrencies and the broad appeal of football clubs has led to developments between the two sectors. Southampton joins a range of football clubs, including Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan, to agree to terms with a cryptocurrency firm.
