Parler Launches Trump NFTs

Parler, a self-proclaimed free speech platform launched an NFT collection featuring former President Donald Trump.

The 10,000 NFTs will feature Trump in a variety of settings, from the U.S. Congress and beyond.

It will also feature other influential figures, including rapper Ye (Kanye) West and billionaire Elon Musk.

The social media network popular among U.S. conservatives partnered with Jon McNaughton to produce the art.

McNaughton, a conservative American artist, hand-painted hundreds of images to create the collection.

According to the press release, he wanted to “capture the essence” of the Trump presidency using symbolic imagery.

These include several variations of Trump holding a snake by its head, for example. The snake imagery could be a reference to Trump’s promise to “drain the swamp” of political corruption in DC.

McNaughton attempted to explain his unique art style. He said that for him, art is about presenting his ideas.

The purpose of my painting is to communicate my ideas. My art reflects who I am and doesn’t use nuance or shades of grey to make my point. I want future generations to know exactly how I felt during this time in our country’s history.

Parler And Web3

Parler CEO George Farmer said that the collaboration aligns with the company’s goal of moving into Web 3 tech.

We’re thrilled to bring McNaughton’s Trump Legacy Collection to our Parler base and beyond. His acclaimed style, creative message, and digital delivery align perfectly with Parler’s goal to move squarely into Web 3 technologies and partnerships that further our commitment to freedom of expression.

Moreover, the release will be just part 1 of a series. The 10,000 NFTs will be on the Ethereum blockchain, as ERC-721 tokens.

Whitelist application will be open until January 19. On January 20, whitelisted subscribers will get access to a presale. Specifically, they will be able to buy the NFTs for 0.1 ETH. That is about $330.

Melania Trump’s NFTs

In December, Parler said it would expand its business into NFTs. The move followed Melania Trump’s own NFTs release.

The former first lady released NFTs called “Melania’s Vision” on the Solana blockchain. Interestingly, the site offered Parler’s own MoonPay as a payment method.

On Thursday, social media users noticed that Parler started advertising Melania Trump’s NFTs.

Parler launched in 2018, while styling itself as a free speech platform. The app got a large influx of users once Facebook and Twitter banned Donald Trump in January 2021. Specifically, the app received an influx of Trump supporters.

However, the app went offline when Amazon cut its service for allegedly failing to police violent content. Moreover, Google and Apple removed the app from their app stores.
