Tennis Star Osaka Strikes Deal with FTX

Crypto exchange FTX has added tennis champion Naomi Osaka to its growing list of ambassadors from the sports and entertainment sector.

Welcoming Women into the Crypto Space

The exchange shared news of this in a release on Monday, March 21st. According to the statement, the deal represents the start of an extended collaboration between the platform and the athlete. Naomi Osaka, also known for her activism off the court, will help bring women aboard the digital sphere.

Of late, the star has been increasingly vocal about social justice and mental health education. Her newly acquired platform will leverage Osaka’s reputation as crypto seeks more traction.

According to the statement, the star could help push for the inclusion of women within the digital space. Osaka noted:

We have seen the statistics about how few women are part of crypto by comparison, which kind of mirrors the inequality we see in other financial markets.”

Additionally, the tennis star enthused about her deal with FTX and believes the collaboration will yield fresh ideas to promote crypto adoption.

Osaka to Reach Out to a Global Audience

Besides listing Osaka as a global ambassador, the exchange platform has other plans. According to reports, FTX could grant the 4-time grand-slam champion an equity stake in FTX Trading Limited. Additionally, Naomi’s remuneration will be paid in crypto. To kick off her position, Naomi will display FTX’s logo for the course of her competition at the Miami Open.

Furthermore, Osaka’s duties also include creatively producing and curating content for viewers around the globe. This is aimed at affirming FTX’s position as a top crypto exchange platform. In return, the platform will help facilitate Osaka’s interaction with crypto space as she trades using her chosen assets.

This is not Osaka’s first venture into cryptocurrency, the tennis star released an NFT collection alongside her sister Mari in August last year. Naomi and Mari are Japanese Americans, a fact FTX was quick to admire. FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried stated that by bringing Naomi Osaka onboard the exchange planned to reach out to a more diverse audience. The partnership will also aid its goal of leading social change in the crypto industry.
