World, the digital identity project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has launched a World ID suite for banking and finance, introducing identity verification tools designed to protect financial institutions against AI-generated impersonation, fraudulent transactions and unauthorized account access. Unveiled by co-founder Alex Blania at Money20/20 in Las Vegas on October 18, the offering combines a dedicated identity wallet, real-time verification for Zoom meetings and cryptographic credentials that AI agents can use when acting on behalf of verified individuals. OpenAI Brings GPT-5.5 To API As Claude Opus 4.7 Rivalry Sharpens
OpenAI has expanded GPT-5.5 into ChatGPT, Codex and API access, putting its newest frontier model directly against Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.7 in the race for enterprise AI, coding agents and long-running digital work.
The model was introduced as OpenAI’s most capable system for complex work across tools, code, research and multi-step task execution. GPT-5.5 is available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users, while GPT-5.5 Pro targets higher-accuracy workloads for Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers.
OpenAI also moved GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.5 Pro into the API after launch, giving developers access through the company’s model platform. API pricing starts at $5 per million input tokens and $30 per million output tokens for GPT-5.5, with a one-million-token context window. GPT-5.5 Pro carries higher pricing for more demanding tasks.
The release keeps OpenAI at the center of the AI product cycle at a time when its broader strategy is also drawing attention from crypto markets and decentralization advocates. OpenAI recently warned that superintelligence could concentrate power without wider distribution, a theme that connects the model race with the broader debate over decentralized AI and control over frontier systems.
GPT-5.5 Leans Into Agents And Coding
GPT-5.5 is built around tool use, planning and verification, with OpenAI positioning it for agentic work that requires more than short chat responses. The model is designed to carry tasks across multiple steps, check outputs and work through software and data workflows with less constant user direction.
OpenAI’s published benchmark table places GPT-5.5 ahead of Claude Opus 4.7 on Terminal-Bench 2.0, where GPT-5.5 scored 82.7% against 69.4% for Opus 4.7. It also posted 51.7% on FrontierMath tiers 1 through 3, compared with 43.8% for Claude Opus 4.7.
Claude remains competitive in several high-value categories. OpenAI’s own table shows Claude Opus 4.7 ahead on FinanceAgent v1.1, while Anthropic has positioned its model as a strong choice for long-horizon software engineering, document reasoning and precise instruction following.
That overlap makes the rivalry more practical than theoretical. Developers are choosing between models based on coding reliability, cost, context length, tool behavior, latency and how well each system handles real enterprise workflows.
Model Competition Moves Into Infrastructure And Markets
The GPT-5.5 launch comes as OpenAI’s commercial structure remains a major market story. Microsoft stock recently fell after OpenAI revised its cloud relationship, ending Azure exclusivity while keeping Microsoft as its primary cloud partner. That change gave the AI lab more room to distribute models across competing infrastructure providers and sharpened the market debate around Microsoft’s role in OpenAI’s next phase.
The same AI race is now crossing into private-market and crypto-linked products. Anthropic has already become part of that trend through a Buidlpad Anthropic Pre-IPO offering, giving stablecoin users exposure to one of OpenAI’s closest rivals before any public listing.
GPT-5.5 now gives OpenAI a stronger answer to Claude Opus 4.7 in agentic work. The next contest will be measured less by launch claims and more by developer adoption, API spend, enterprise renewals and how often users trust these systems to complete complex work without manual rescue.

Cysic Halts Bridge After 10 Million CYS Exploit Sends $727K to Ethereum
Cysic has suspended its cross-chain bridge after an attacker exploited its message-processing infrastructure to mint 10 million unauthorized CYS tokens on BNB Smart Chain, selling 7.2 million and moving approximately $727,000 in proceeds to Ethereum. The October 17 attack exposed a vulnerability involving unauthorized database access and fraudulent minting instructions. Cysic subsequently blacklisted the recipient address, immobilizing the remaining 2.8 million tokens approximately 76 minutes after the unauthorized issuance. The Foundation confirmed that the incident was confined to bridge infrastructure,…

Jesse Pollak Pushes Back On Coinbase ETH Selling Criticism, Points To 150K ETH Treasury
Base creator Jesse Pollak has pushed back against criticism that Coinbase is selling ETH while benefiting from Ethereum, pointing to the exchange’s roughly 150,000 ETH corporate position and years of investment across the network. Pollak argued that Coinbase has held about 150,000 ETH through multiple market cycles, while describing the company as the largest ETH holder outside dedicated digital asset treasury companies by a wide margin. Coinbase’s latest regulatory filing backs up the scale of that position. The company held...

Tornado Cash Phishing Frontend Drains 1,010 ETH From User
A crypto user lost 1,010 ETH after following an old Tornado Cash bookmark into a phishing frontend that captured the private withdrawal credentials needed to access the deposited funds. The attacker then used those credentials to withdraw the assets within roughly 12 hours without compromising the underlying Tornado Cash smart contracts. 5 Best Crypto APIs for Trading Bots in 2026
A crypto trading bot is a chain of dependencies. It reads a position, prices it, decides, places an order, and confirms settlement. Every one of those steps is an API call, and a failure at any single step stops the strategy. The provider choice shapes what a bot can actually do more than the strategy logic does. The common mistake is searching for one API that covers everything. No such API exists in 2026. Market data providers do not route...

Best Prediction Markets Alternatives: Outpoll, Limitless, Myriad, Manifold

The strongest alternatives are not identical copies. Some emerging prediction markets platforms focus on professional order controls, some concentrate on fast crypto and financial markets, and others use onchain infrastructure or play-money forecasting. How to Get a Funded Crypto Trading Account in 2026 Step by Step
A funded crypto trading account gives a trader access to more notional capital after they prove they can follow a firm’s risk rules. The usual route starts with a paid crypto prop firm challenge that requires a profit target without breaching daily or overall loss limits. Passing is not only about making money. Drawdown control, minimum trading days and rule compliance determine whether the account survives. The evaluation fee can be lost, and crypto prop firms use different account models,...

Tokenized stock perps allow traders to take long or short exposure to companies, ETFs and equity indexes through crypto-native derivatives markets. Positions can use stablecoin collateral, remain open without an expiry date and continue trading when the main stock exchange is closed. The trader receives price exposure, not ownership of the referenced shares. The interface often looks identical to a crypto perpetual futures market. The risk does not. A stock-linked contract can remain active overnight, through weekends and during holidays...
